So yesterday me and Adam had our interview for the Digital City Fellowship, now we both agreed that things could have done a lot better in the presentation but we still thought that we might have had a fighting chance to get the funding and the go ahead for the company.
Sadly today we where given the news that they had declined our business proposal and gave us some advice on what we could improve on if we chose to come back in March (when the next submissions are accepted). So next March we are going to take another stab at it but next time make sure that we are more prepared for it by taking in examples of work that the company can produce.
To ensure this we are going to be working on a short animation together using free open-source software.
our package of choice is Blender 2.55, the good thing about this package is that for Windows & Mac......also the best thing about it is that its FREE ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Blender has been used to make MANY beautiful animations that have shown off the new and improved features of the software, there latest animation was called Sintel and was a great way to show off there new fire and particle capabilities.
during this animation they worked on a new fresh layout with advanced features for Blender and have just released this version of the package in Beta.....this is the one we will be using.
even though it is still in Beta it's still in the same league as the bigger packages that Autodesk offer.
If you haven't yet seen the new Movie Sintel here is your chance to do so......trust me when i say you will love it.
As i said before, this wasn't the first movie by a Blender Team......they also have another 2 movies that showed off what Blender could do when they came out......these movies are also free to watch on YouTube and be found at the following URL's
Elephants Dream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLkA0RELQ1g
Big Buck Bunny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE7VzlLtp-4
And if you would like to see all of the production videos and wip's for Sintel they are all on Blender Foundations YouTube Channel.
