The other week i week i was contacted by Oliver Simonsen of What Comics Entertainment, they are wanting to do an animated film version of an old comic book called Cerebus The Aardvark......they want me to animate the main character in one of his scenes.
if you haven't heard of Cerebus dont worry but you should REALLY check the comics out....Its the longest running independently published comic book in history. From 1977 to 2004, Dave Sim and Gerhard (who began working on the book in 1984) produced 300 issues (some 6000 pages) about a misanthropic, three foot tall talking Aardvark.
So the site for this movie is Cerebus3D.com you can also check out a video of the movie from a year ago below.
So ye, as you can imagine i've been really jumpy and happy ever since i got the email asking me to work on it :)
the only problem is that since i haven't used Maya before and they are using it for the project im having to learn the program from scratch......it shouldn't be that much of a problem though since i have till mid-December to get the scene done, im getting help from tutorial videos and my mates on how to use Maya so it would all be great if i just blast though it and do some all nighters to learn all i can.
Also i've had some problems with the rig they sent me but after talking with the rigger i've found out that the settings i couldn't find where in an attribute as since i hadn't used Maya before i didn't know about it.
but all is well with it now and i should be able to work on it with no problems as long as i get use to the software and soon ^^
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So as well as this project i was also contacted by a mate over in Japan who is starting up a company and has asked me to work on some work when he gets his company up and running, sadly i wont be going over there to work in Japan (that would be EPICLY AWESOME) but it will be fantastic to work with his company, so im REALLY looking forward to that as well.
Also if that wasn't enough i've also been asked by Adam Lisiewicz from University if i would like to setup a company with him through the Digital City Fellowship at the University. We have been over what the company will be based around and what we will be doing throughout the 6 months that the fellowships runs.
So as you can imagine i've been VERY busy and VERY excited with all the offers and opportunity i have been given of late.
AND if i get a new and improved showreel done i will also be able to send it off to JAGEX who are the minds behind RuneScape and War Of Legends......i have also been asked to send it off to Eutechnyx who worked on The Fast and the Furious, Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli and NASCAR The Game 2011.
So if i get my showreel out to them there is a chance i will be able to get a job there as well.
So a LOAD has changed since i last posted when i said that nothing has been happening on the job front.
and to top it all off, on Tuesday i graduate from Teesside University......this is much a big thing for me and my family as i was the first to go to university in my close family.......well i was until my sister started last year :)
So on Tuesday i need to get all dressed up in my graduation gown and go get my diploma at the town hall in front of everyone :)
Anyway thats everything for now.....i will keep you posted on what happens with the projects and i hope your happy for me as much as i am happy for me :)
Talk to you all soon ^__^
